Chicken Parmesan Burgers

If you love chicken parm- these are the burgers for you!! High protein & delicious!!

RECIPE:

  • 1 pound lean ground chicken

  • ¾ cup marinara sauce, any kind, (divided)

  • ⅓ cup plain or Italian breadcrumbs

  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

  • 4 slices fresh mozzarella cheese

  • 4 burger buns, toasted, (if desired)


  • In a large mixing bow, combine chicken, ¼ cup marinara sauce, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, Italian seasoning, onion and garlic powders, salt and pepper. Mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, or burgers will be tough. Form mixture into four even patties.

  • Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the burgers for 5-6 minutes per side or until the internal temperature reaches 165℉.

  • While the burgers are cooking, heat the remaining ½ cup of marinara sauce in a small saucepan.

  • Once the burgers are cooked, remove them from the heat, add a heaping spoonful of marinara and top with a slice of fresh mozzarella. Cover the pan and allow the burgers to sit for a few minutes until the cheese melts. Alternatively, if your skillet is oven safe, you can place the burgers under the broiler for a few minutes to melt the cheese.

  • Serve the burgers on toasted buns with extra marinara, if desired.
