Sweet & Sour Chicken

Chinese fake out sweet & sour chicken that's super easy to make and delish!

Pair with some veggies and your favorite rice for the best meal!! So good!

Ingredients for the Sauce:

  • 1 cup sugar substitute

  • 1/3 cup lower sugar ketchup

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1/2 cup distilled white vinegar

  • 1/2 tablespoon soy sauce

Ingredients for the Chicken:

  • 1 pound chicken breast, cut into small pieces

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground pepper

  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 3/4 cup corn starch

  • 1 large egg

Directions for the Sauce:

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the sugar, ketchup, garlic powder, vinegar, and soy sauce.

Directions for the Chicken:

  1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.

  2. Line a baking sheet with tin foil and set it aside.

  3. In a medium bowl, mix together the chicken, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and corn starch.

  4. In a small bowl, beat the egg.

  5. Spray pan with nonstick cooking spray and warm over medium heat.

  6. Dip the chicken into the beaten egg and then place it in the pan and cook it. Or mix egg into the flour mixture directly.

  7. Cook in pan until cooked through.

  8. Add half the sauce and stir. Allow to simmer for 2 minutes then add the rest of the sauce.

  9. Remove from heat and serve.

Store in an air tight container in the refrigerator.
